Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
1. Introduction
Qoorbell ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website (qoorbell.com), mobile applications (iOS and Android), and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
When you create an account, we collect your phone number, display name, profile picture (optional), email address (optional), and timezone. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information is processed securely through Stripe — we do not store your credit card details on our servers.
2.2 Usage Information
We automatically collect information about how you use the Service, including: doorbell creation and configuration, ring history (visitor interactions), video call logs (duration, timestamps — not content), chat messages between you and visitors, QR code generation and scan events, notification preferences and delivery records, group and doorbell membership data, and geofencing configuration.
2.3 Device Information
When you use our mobile apps or website, we may collect device type and model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (for push notifications), IP address, browser type and language, and app version.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, and improve the Service; process your transactions and manage your subscription; send you push notifications when visitors ring your doorbell; enable video calls and chat between you and your visitors; generate and manage QR codes for your doorbells; enforce geofencing rules you configure; send service-related communications (account verification, security alerts, plan changes); analyze usage patterns to improve the Service; prevent fraud and ensure security; comply with legal obligations.
4. Video Calls & Communications
Qoorbell facilitates real-time video calls and chat between doorbell owners and visitors. Video calls are processed through third-party providers and are not recorded by Qoorbell. Chat messages are stored on our servers to provide message history within the Service. We do not monitor, read, or analyze the content of your video calls or chat messages for advertising purposes.
5. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with: service providers who help us operate the Service (Stripe for payments, Twilio for SMS verification, Firebase for infrastructure, Dyte for video calls); law enforcement or government authorities when required by law or to protect our rights; other users within your doorbell groups, as configured by you (e.g., group members can see shared doorbells). All third-party service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including: encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest; secure authentication with JWT tokens; rate limiting and brute-force protection; regular security audits; access controls and principle of least privilege. While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Ring history retention depends on your subscription plan (ranging from 7 days on the Free plan to 365 days on Enterprise). Chat messages and video call logs follow the same retention schedule. When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate or incomplete data; delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten"); export your data in a portable format; restrict or object to certain processing of your data; withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent). To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@qoorbell.com or use the account settings in our mobile app.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete such information.
10. Mobile Applications
Our iOS and Android mobile applications may request access to: Camera and microphone (for video calls with visitors); Push notification permissions (to alert you when visitors ring); Location services (optional, for geofencing features); Storage (to save QR codes for printing). You can manage these permissions in your device settings at any time. Denying certain permissions may limit functionality.
11. Cookies & Tracking
Our website uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect against spam and abuse. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking for marketing purposes.
12. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States where our servers are located. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
14. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at: privacy@qoorbell.com or through the Contact form on our website.
